Welcome to our Sangha
Sangha is a word in Pali and Sanskrit that can be translated as community or association. Insight Meditation (also known as Vipassana) is the practice of moment-to-moment mindfulness. Through careful and sustained attention to the present moment we experience for ourselves the ever-changing flow of the mind-body process. Having this awareness we gain insight, compassion and happiness.
“…when you are in the present moment you are free. Free from the past, free from the future. Free from expectations, free from judgments. ...Free to awaken, to open, to tap into the happiness that is within you always – the happiness that is your true nature. Free to be just as you are. Free to just be.”
Our primary activity is silent meditation, held each Tuesday evening at the First Congregational Church, 216 East Gurley, Prescott, Arizona. Our meditation hall is located downstairs – please enter through the lower door on the Alarcon St. (east) side of the building.
All are welcome, of any race, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability, culture, or ethnicity.

- 7:00 to 7:40 p.m. — Formal sit (meditation)
- 7:40 to 7:45 p.m. — Break: an opportunity to meet others
- 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. — Talk followed by discussion
You may participate in one or all segments. During the formal sit we request that you do not enter or leave once the bowl has been rung. Chairs and cushions are available.
Prescott Insight is committed to building inclusive community, with an invitation to practice openness and compassion toward ourselves and others.
As part of this practice, we ask that you please not wear scented products to the sits. With the proliferation of fragrances in body care and laundry products, many people are affected by Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). Due to allergies, asthma or MCS, they may have difficulty breathing, migraine headaches, flu-like symptoms and more.
Thank you for taking this seriously, and may we all be healthy and free from harm!
